2007 Antonio Sanguineti Vincero Toscana Bianco

Medium yellow. Fragrant nose with floral notes and star fruit and orange cream-sicle. Subtle sweet complexities of almond paste, vanilla bean and pumpkin pie spice, and banana split, but it's not coming from oak. Medium and soft on the palate with juicy and tangy acidity and mandarin orange. Minerally finish with a waxy-like marzipan aftertaste. A nice quaffer. 50% Vermentino, 30% Malvasia, 20% Chardonnay.

2005 Rocca delle Macie Sasyr Toscana IGT

Brilliant deep ruby red. Right from the get-go, this has a delicious nose. Berry-City, USA, I mean Italia. Blackberries and boysenberries, gorgeous melted down strawberry licorice, vanilla. Also some dried blueberries and sweet hay. Smooth, velvety tannin, but firm. There is more sweet fruit and red and black licorice on the finish. A medium bodied, vivid, hedonistic wine drinking well now, but by the end of the bottle I found myself wanting even more grip and more earth. 60% Sangiovese & 40% Syrah.
